to be 

be in (intransitivo) = be at home/in this building

be out (intransitivo) = be away from home/from this building for a short time

be away (intransitivo) = be away from home/from the place at least a night

be back (intransitivo) = have returned after a long or short absence

esempi 

I want to see Mrs Pitt. Is she in?

No I'm afraid she is out at the moment 

mo I'm afraid she is away for the weekent

When will she be back?


be for (transitivo) = be in favour of (often used with gerund)

be against (transitivo) = be opposed to (often used with gerund)

esempio 

I'm for doing nothing till the police arrive/ I'm against doing anuthing till the police arrive


be in for (transitivo) = be about to encounter (usually something unpleasant)

esempi 

Did you listen to the weather forecast? I'm afraid we're in for a bumpy flight

if you think that the work is going to be easy you're in for a shock


be over (intransitivo) = be finished 

esempio 

the storm is over now, we can go on


be up (intransitivo) = be out of the bed 

esempio 

Don't expect her to answer the door bell at eight o'clock on Sunday morning. She won't be up


be up to (transitivo) = be physically o intellectually strong enough(to perform certain action) .The object  is usually it though a gerund is possible.

esempio 

After  hes illness the Minister continued in office though he was longer up to the work/up to doing the work


it is up to someone (often followed by an infinitive)= it is his responsability or duty

esempi

it is up to parents to tesach their children manners
